The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Synopsis: This story is told by the Vanderbeeker children – 5 of them – who live with their mom, dad, and a few animals in a beautiful brownstone on 141st Street. The family has lived here for years and knows everyone in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, the landlord – Mr. Beiderman doesn’t like them (or anyone for that matter) and is not renewing their lease after Christmas. The children have concocted a plan to make the Beiderman fall in love with them and let them stay. Will it work? And why do you think he dislikes them to begin with?

Review: This is a super cute story that made me laugh. It’s very light-hearted and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it over the holidays. I actually listened to the audiobook and found it relaxing and easy to listen to. I heard the book has a map of the apartment though and I’d love to get my hands on that!

The story is charming and heart-warming and I would recommend. Especially young children 8/10+ and all the way up! It’s just a lovely read that could become a classic someday.
