The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

Synopsis: Something is killing children. One day they are here, the next they aren’t. The ones that do survive, whatever this is, are different. These children are dangerous with unknown abilities and are sent to “rehabilitation camps”. The main character – Ruby – narrowly escapes but life is not as she left it.

Review: This book took me too long to read. It was great, but it didn’t pull me in and make me want to finish it like a lot of other books do. It’s quite tragic and dark and I found it hard to read through at certain points.

The author created a unique dystopian concept and I did enjoy the characters. Although, I think they could be further developed. I don’t necessarily agree with all the hype this novel got, but I don’t dislike it either!

  1. Completely agree with everything you said. I liked the concept but the execution fell flat. At some points it was too slow and in others it was too rushed. I enjoyed the first book but I probably won’t continue reading the series 🙊
