Armada by Ernest Cline

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Synopsis: The novel is in the voice of Zack Lightman, a teenage boy who dreams there is more to the world than what he sees and lives every day. He lost his father when he was a baby and grew up with his mom – and video games. He plays them quite a bit, one in particular – Armada – where he is ranked 6th in the world.

One day while sitting in class looking out the window he spots a flying saucer – one identical to those in the Armada video game. He convinces himself he’s crazy, until he finds out he’s not..

Review: Okay, so I thoroughly enjoyed Ready Player One and really wanted to read Armada based on this fact. To be frank, it fell short.

Although, as I write this review, I do admit – it was an exciting novel at parts. I was interested in what was going to happen and what was going on. I think if you enjoy Alien invasions and 80’s pop culture, you may enjoy this book if you take it for what it is. A quick, easy, entertaining – but not as entertaining as Ready Player One – read!
