In the Wake by Nicola Davison
Set on the shores of modern day Nova Scotia, Emily and her husband Daniel move back from Calgary with their toddler to the coastal landscape where her father died. With water that already haunts her, she gets to know her neighbours and struggles with Daniel travelling often for work. As the tension in each family builds, long unanswered questions must be answered about marriage, parenting, grief, and mental illness.
This is a very unique book with excellent characters and a lot of interesting topics. The author is extremely talented and her writing is descriptive and inviting!
